Independent Scales NZ recently installed wash down scales at the White Cloud Seafoods processing plant in Christchurch to eliminate ongoing maintenance costs caused by water damage to scales.
A harsh environment indicator with an IP69K rating was used because of its total resistance to water ingress, even when hosed with water at 1450 PSI and/or up to 80°C water temperature.
Most brands of scales have models rated as waterproof that can be used in wet areas, but very few scales can actually withstand direct hosing on a daily basis like the wash down scales supplied by Independent Scales.
White Cloud Seafoods Christchurch Ltd are contract processors for a wide range of fish species specialising in Spiny Dogfish Trunks, Belly Flaps and Fillets (Squalus acanthias). They also currently export to France and Germany.
